As a member of board of directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 2007 to 2008, has overseen the financing of investments in CEE and Eastern Europe worth Euro 6 billion. Sir Tony Baldry is a barrister and Head of a Commercial Set of Chambers in London. Sir Tony was a member of the United Kingdom Parliament for some 32 years. He was appointed a Minister by Margaret Thatcher in 1990 when she was Prime Minister, and his first Ministerial appointment was part of the Ministerial team that privatised the UK electricity industry. He subsequently served as a Minister for some four years in the Department of the Environment, covering housing, planning and Local Government issues. He then served as a Minister in the Foreign Office for some time and his last Ministerial appointment was a Minister of State for Agriculture and Fisheries. During his Ministerial career, he led a number of UK Trade Missions overseas. He ceased to be a Minister when his Party lost the 1997 General Election. From 2001-2005, Sir Tony was chair of the House of Commons Select Committee on International Development. He now chairs a number of public and private companies and is Trustee of a number of UK charities. He was knighted in 2012 and made a member of the Privy Council in 2013.
